Our daughter has been in the Pipi room at Pukeko ELC for a year now, we as a family are so grateful that we have a sense of belonging within the centre. The teachers have a welcoming, nurturing nature and make the centre feel like a home away from home. Watching our daughter’s personal growth within the centre has been invaluable. Thank you Pukekos!

Welcome to Pukeko ELC
“Play is the work of children”.
Here at Pukeko ELC we provide a home away from home for children aged from three month’s to school age. We ensure a safe, caring, respectful, fun, and natural environment with excellent qualified staff ratios. Our aim is to nurture happy, confident, and curious learners and to install a life long love of learning within them.
At Pukeko ELC we are inspired by the Reggio Emilia and RIE approaches and thrive to incorporate these into our daily practices in our Pipi and Paua rooms.
What We Offer
We believe that children are strong and capable in their own world. As teachers, we encourage children to reflect on the knowledge and experiences that they have using both verbal and non-verbal strategies. Learning is child directed through play, by exploring, investigating, and having positive interactions within our environment and those around us. We observe the interests of each child as we play and learn alongside them, encouraging questioning, problem solving, curiosity, and theory testing in a fun way.
Every baby and toddler has already gained a wealth of knowledge and abilities, and we appreciate and respect the learning that each child bring into our room. We maintain an unhurried and peaceful environment that ensures children have the space and time to lead their own learning.
We aim to create a sense of belonging and being valued through a careful settling routine, transitioning process between our rooms, and on to school. As teachers we believe that positive transitioning experiences enhance a child’s ability and potential to develop into confident and capable learners, with a love for learning.
As a team, we value the importance of healthy, nutritious and balanced food for children as it helps children to learn, play, and grow. Our catered meals are made fresh by experienced chefs, appealing, and fun to eat. They incorporate a variety of flavours, colours, and textures to encourage even the fussiest of eaters. We believe that food and mealtimes provide valuable learning experiences and opportunities for children.
